PLEASE READ THESE RULES FIRST.
There are a few guidelines just like any community. We're pretty casual here but we will delete posts or ban users if needed. Please don't make it needed.
0. ALL POSTS MUST BE DREAD-RELATED.
It's very simple - post anything you want, but include at least one pic of your dreads with it. Post about your pets, your friends, a movie you saw, whatever - but add a pic of your hair or otherwise make it dread-related and we're good to go.
1. READ THE MEMORIES BEFORE POSTING.
We want to keep the community interesting. In order to help please check before posting so there aren't absurd amounts of repeat questions. Click here or below for the memories/faq section. Click here for a comprehensive list of terms in the memories.
If you post something covered in the memories, prove that you read them first! Link to a post that almost helped, or note a few things you tried first, before asking for the community's assistance.
2. NO SPAM.
You know what spam is. No community promos of any kind, especially rating communities. They make people cranky and cranky people email us. If you have a community that is dread related, contact a mod and it will be added to the list in the user info.
Also, you'll be banned from commenting if we think you're a bot - if we're mistaken, just email the address above.
3. NO IMAGE THIEVERY.
It is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE to steal pics from this community for use on your tumblr or other site. If you want to repost someone else's pics, you need their permission and you need to give credit in your link. If I catch you doing otherwise, you will be immediately banned from GUDU without trial.
If you want to avoid your pics being stolen, you should watermark your images and make members-only posts... but be aware there's no guarantee they won't still be stolen. I'm not going to put GUDU on lockdown to combat a problem that's existed since the dawn of the internet, but do email me with proof of thievery when you see it, and we'll boot these pissant losers out of our comm.
4. LJ-CUT IS YOUR FRIEND.
An lj-cut is required for photos larger than 800 pixels wide and photos that are not worksafe. You must use an lj-cut if you are posting more than one photo, or if there is any nudity/obscenity in your photos. Be sure to warn people if there is anything not safe for work under an lj-cut.
Click here to learn the lj-cut.
5. NO DRAMA.
This is a community. We are a group of people having a common interest in dreadlocks. We need to remain respectful and polite to all members. Don't delete other people's comments even if you don't agree with them. Childish posts like "OMG I'M LEAVING HERE FOREVER!!!11", insulting someone's hair or views and anything else that offends the group at large will not be tolerated. This also includes talk about illegal things. Please refrain from offering anything illegal in exchange for hair work - we're not all "pot smoking hippies", and stereotypes need to be overcome, not propagated.
6. HAVE FUN.
The only thing you need to join is a love of dreadlocks. Ask questions about dreadlocks. Share stories and pictures. Tell us a joke or talk about your day. This is a place where dreadlovers can come together in virtual fellowship.
NOW YOU NEED TO DO THIS:
Now that you've read the community rules, you can gain posting access. Email us at the link above with the full text of your first post, including lj-cuts and other html, and your lj username. (Note: If you don't hear back inside a few days, it means your mail didn't come through.) So long as it follows the rules (and you continue to follow the rules), posting access will be granted forever. Don't forget to join the community before you mail, too!
